Add a Business

No, we only accept listings for businesses that are currently operational. Once your business is open and actively serving customers, you’re welcome to add it to Lokalist. This ensures that all listings on our platform are for active businesses, providing a reliable resource for our users.

If your business is already listed, you should claim the existing listing rather than create a new one. Use our “Claim This Business” feature to take control of your listing.

Fill in every part of it. Once your listing has the hours, phone number, description, and photos, we send it to search engines. A half-empty listing stays out until it’s filled in.

• Add all 3 photos, and write the description in your own words, up to 500 characters.
• Tick the features that apply, like wheelchair access, kid-friendly, or Wi-Fi.
• Keep your opening hours right, especially before a public holiday.

You can fix it yourself. Log in, open your listing, and change whatever is wrong. That works before it goes live and after it’s up. If we spot something to change, we’ll email you before your listing goes live. If you can’t log in, email support@lokalist.my and tell us what to change, and we’ll get back to you within 5 working days. If somebody else added the business, or we put it up from public records, claim it first, then edit it.

Yes, you can add your home-based business. For privacy, tick “Hide my street address” when you add it, and your listing shows your town without your street or a map pin.

Any legal business in Malaysia can go on Lokalist: a shop or any place customers come to, a service that goes to them, or an online business.

We don’t list nightclubs, gambling and 4D outlets, or liquor shops. Some businesses need a licence check before they go live, like clinics, pharmacies, and licensed moneylenders.

Yes, you can add multiple businesses. Each business should have its own unique listing and will need to be added separately.

Within 5 working days. Someone at Lokalist reads every new listing before it goes live, to check that the business is real and the category fits. We email you when it’s up. If we need you to change something, we’ll email you before it goes up.

No. A Community listing is free, and it stays free. It shows your details, your opening hours, and up to 3 photos, plus your halal status if JAKIM has certified the business.

The form asks for your business details, your hours, and your photos.

• Your business name and the category it goes under
• Your address, or the areas you cover if you go to your customers
• A phone number, and your website if you have one
• Your opening hours
• A short description in your own words, up to 500 characters
• Up to 3 photos

We also ask for your email and a WhatsApp number when you register. We use them only to ask you about your listing, never for marketing.
