How the badge works

JAKIM issues the certificate. Lokalist shows it. Each badge comes from the JAKIM halal directory and carries the certificate number and the expiry date. A daily check reads the expiry, and the badge drops the day a certificate expires. A place without the badge may still serve halal food. The badge shows only where a valid certificate is on record, and the JAKIM portal holds the official record.

Questions people ask

What does the Halal Certified badge mean?

The place holds a valid halal certificate issued by JAKIM. Its listing shows the certificate number and the expiry date.

How often is the badge checked?

Every day. The check reads each certificate’s expiry date, and an expired certificate drops the badge the same day.

A place shows no badge. Is it halal?

We cannot say. The badge shows only where a valid JAKIM certificate is on record. Ask the place, or check the JAKIM portal.

I run a place with a certificate. How do I get the badge?

Claim your listing and add the certificate number and the expiry date. The badge shows once the check passes.
